Santa Monica Pier

Field Trip to Santa Monica Pier. It’s been a few years since I’ve been on the pier, and it looks like they’re doing some maintenance. Not surprising, the pier is over 100 years old (opening day was 9-9-1909), and it has undergone repairs more than once. Santa Monica beach is the first beach I remember going to and I’ve gotten to seen some of the changes.

There were no amusement rides on the pier when I was a kid aside from the Carousel.  The rides that are there now are from the 1990s.  However, a lot still looks the same. The original Hot Dog on a Stick (1946), is still standing, just off the side of the pier.
