Merry-Go-Round

I remember coming to Griffith Park as a kid for weekend pic-nics with my family. Going for a pony ride and riding the wooden horses of the Merry-Go-Round. Sadly, these horses have seen better days.

The Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round was built in 1926 by the Spillman Engineering Company (horses carved by Charles I.D. Looff), and was once-upon-a-time, located in Mission Beach, San Diego. The carousel was brought to Griffith Park in 1937. I read, that it was watching his daughters ride the Merry-Go-Round at Griffith Park that inspired Walt Disney to create Disneyland!
